    Provide financial assistance schemes to help needy families to cope with the rising costs of living, and students in the pursuit of their education.

  • Cornerstone Development Initiatives

    The Cornerstone Development Initiatives seeks to ensure that every child has an opportunity to complete their foundational education despite their family circumstances. The School Allowance funds are awarded to selected Primary and Secondary students who have qualified in our application and selection processes.

    Since its inception in 2008, we have assisted over 1,600 students in pursuing their education through awards amounting to more than $700,000. (Updated as of 2017)

  • Food Care Programme

    This programme started in March 2013 with the aim of helping needy families in financial difficulties. Through this programme, the families can obtain food and daily necessities at no cost. Apart from providing the food pack, this programme serves to provide additional social and emotional support to the needy families through our volunteers.

  • Short Term Assistance

    Provide assistance in other forms to the needy families on an ad-hoc basis based on their need assessment.

Counselling and Case Management

  • Ways we can support

    Help individuals like yourself and your families to address and work through issues related to financial, behavioural and interpersonal difficulties, and marital/family conflicts by attending our counselling sessions.

  • Counselling Sessions

    Each counselling session will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. However, the number of counselling sessions you require will be determined in part by the nature of your concerns and the goals set by you and your counsellor. The duration may range from several weeks to many months. Counselling fees differ, as they are determined by a few criteria and reviewed on a case by case basis.

Befriending & Support

  • What we do?

    Our befriending programmes reach out to students and seniors. We also provide support for caregivers of elderly.

  • Youth Mentoring

    Launched in 2012, to provide social and emotional mentoring support to students aged 10 to 18 years old as they journey through their schooling years. Mentors are matched with students from lower income families to befriend and mentor them. Our mentors are carefully selected to be responsible, mature and of good character.

  • Seniors Befriending Services

    This initiative aims to bring love, hope and care to the seniors island-wide. Regular visits by our team of friendly befrienders will provide a listening ear and offer practical help to the seniors. Special activities will be organised during festive seasons for our seniors to participate.

    This programme is open to senior citizens who are 55 years old and above. Priority will be given based on needs assessment and availability of befrienders.

  • Caregiver Support Programme

    This programme aims to equip caregiver with techniques and resources on quality caregiving and allows them to connect with other caregivers. Caregivers meet monthly to share and learn how they can provide better care for their loved ones and themselves.

Family Life Education

  • Family Life Education

    We believe that family is the foundation of the nation. Our Family Life Education programme covers workshop topics that apply to families, parents, couples, youths and seniors with the focus on fundamental values to building a healthy family system.

    We are certified and qualified to conduct programmes for schools, corporations and other organisations.

  • The Barn

    The Barn is a volunteer-run thrift shop that sells pre-loved goods like clothing, accessories, household appliances and other miscellaneous items. It aims to assist the poor and needy in the community by making consumer goods available to them at an affordable cost. All stocks are donated by members of the public.

  • Cornerstone Senior Centre

    Located at Ang Mo Kio, Cheng San, Cornerstone Senior Centre (CSC) is an integrated wellness centre that promotes the overall well-being of seniors so that they can age-in-place.

    CSC offers a wide range of programmes and services catered for the seniors with the objective of strengthening their physical, emotional and mental well-being, and fostering strong 3 generational bonds within the community.

    Fully equipped with a living room, resource centre, gym, therapy room, multi-purpose room, thrift and snack shop, CSC offers programmes such as exercises, workshops, interest groups, outings; and provides services like senior befriending, home care/help, medical rehabilitation services and more.

    Our diverse range of services focus on building and strengthening families within our community. Through our services, we empower families to become the strong pillars of society via financial, social and emotional support. Our goal is to equip each member, from young aspiring couples to well-experienced grandparents, with practical life skills and knowledge.

  • Our History

    Cornerstone Community Services (UENS96SS0151G) is registered under the Charities Act on the 11th of June 1997, and is a full member of the National Council of Social Services since 15th September 2003. We have also been an approved institution of the Institutes of a Public Character (IPCs) since 2003. It is our responsibility to ensure that we are recognised and supported by the Singapore government, and that we stay accountable to our donors and volunteers.

    Our organisation relies heavily on volunteerism and charity support from the public, all of whom believe that our approach can bring about change in our society. We are continually improving our methods, and have seen annual improvements over the last 21 years.
